Stability index for chaotically driven concave maps

We study skew product systems driven by a hyperbolic base map Ŝ : Θ → Θ (for example, a baker map or an Anosov surface diffeomorphism) and with simple concave fibre maps on R+ like x → ĝ(θ) arctan(x), where θ ∈ Θ is a parameter driven by the base map. The fibrewise attractor is the graph of an upper semicontinuous function θ → φ̂∞(θ) ∈ R+. For many choices of ĝ, φ̂∞ has a residual set of zeros, b...

Random walk with chaotically driven bias

We investigate two types of random walks with a fluctuating probability (bias) in which the random walker jumps to the right. One is a 'time-quenched framework' using bias time series such as periodic, quasi-periodic, and chaotic time series (chaotically driven bias). The other is a 'time-annealed framework' using the fluctuating bias generated by a stochastic process, which is not quenched in ...

Comments on “Image encryption with chaotically coupled chaotic maps”

This paper studies the security of a recently proposed chaos-based cryptosystem. It is shown that the encryption architecture of this cryptosystem possesses some important problems related to its implementation and its robustness against noise. Some security problems are also highlighted.

Stability of F-biharmonic maps

This paper studies some properties of F-biharmonic maps between Riemannian manifolds. By considering the first variation formula of the F-bienergy functional, F-biharmonicity of conformal maps are investigated. Moreover, the second variation formula for F-biharmonic maps is obtained. As an application, instability and nonexistence theorems for F-biharmonic maps are given.

AN AGGREGATED FUZZY RELIABILITY INDEX FOR SLOPE STABILITY ANALYSIS

While sophisticated analytical methods like Morgenstern-Price or finite elementmethods are available for more realistic analysis of stability of slopes, assessment of the exactvalues of soil parameters is practically impossible. Uncertainty in the soil parameters arisesfrom two different sources: scatter in data and systematic error inherent in the estimate of soilproperties. Hence, stability o...
